What the test contains

Try sample questions

Generated by the same engine as the Kollego course, at a level close to the entrance math. Pick an answer in your head, then open the solution.

  1. 1. Evaluate: log_10(1000)

    • a2
    • b10
    • c3
    • d4
    Show solution

    Answer: 3

    log_b(x) asks: to what power must b be raised to get x?

    10^3 = 1000, so log_10(1000) = 3.

  2. 2. Solve for x: log_10(x) = 2

    • a100
    • b110
    • c90
    • d20
    Show solution

    Answer: 100

    log_b(x) = e means x = b^e.

    x = 10^2 = 100.

  3. 3. What is the slope of the line through (-1, -5) and (2, -14)?

    • a-3
    • b3
    • c-2
    • d-4
    Show solution

    Answer: -3

    Slope = (y2 − y1) / (x2 − x1).

    (-14 + 5) / (2 + 1) = -9 / 3 = -3.
